I have been a professional photographer since 1986, moving into commercial video production in the early 1990s. In the early 2000s I saw DSLRs starting to shoot excellent video and moved back to shooting on them so I could combine the best of both worlds. To say I’ve owned a lot of different gear would be an understatement! Now as I transition into both retirement age and a online content creator my tools are changing again- iPhones, drones and 360 cameras come more into play. While I miss some aspects of film cameras and old technology, mostly I think the image quality and price are so much better that I’d never go back – and I love that the power of these tools is affordable enough to be in the hands of young people and they are pushing the boundaries of creative content in brilliant ways- we are truly in a golden age of photography and videography!
So here is the list of gear I currently use, although I have to admit this list is changing as I go! We are Amazon affiliates, so we make a small amount for each sale from below which goes to support this site and is greatly appreciated!
Sony A7RIII with Sony 24-105G Lens
Sony A7RIV with Sigma 11-24 Art Lens
Macbook Pro w/ Davinci Resolve and Acorn Photo Editor – there is a free version of Davinci, but the paid one gives more features that can be helpful. Acorn is a small company that makes a photo editing software that is very inexpensive, but easier to use than Photoshop. Not quite as full featured, but very, very close. I’ve used Photoshop since Version 1.0, but these days I prefer Acorn.
